I don't have a lot to stay about this one, it probably wont make any new fans of the new "post-"/shoegaze black metal thing going on, but it's a nice pickup for all the Alcest/Altar of Plauges/Amesoeurs/WitTR fans out there (The vocalist is/was a member of two of those). Lantlôs is German but I don't make a point of it because they don't sound overly German, if you know what I mean.
.Neon is the best of the three albums if you ask me. The s/t is solid but obviously still trying to find itself, and their newest, Agape, left me feeling like I'd only had half an album.

this blog really sucks. I used to check every day, but it seems like no one bothers to post new releases except for that lame underground black/whatevermetal stuff every once in a while I dont give two shits about! please,a little more genre diversity would be nice. also, no need for posting gazillions of releases a day but more often than once or twice a year would be really, really cool!

We try, but have occasional lives of hedonistic lifestyles to uphold. Don't like it? Sorry. Got something to offer besides criticism? Let us know.

This year is good, and you guys miss everything. Why pay for a blog if you're not gonna use it? At least let someone else put it back up to par with reality, and not yearly posts, boooorrrrrrinnnnnggggggg.

ReplyDeleteThis blog isn't a bad alternative. The one I frequent went down, so I've been searching for others and you have a decent selection here. It sounds like the problems this guy was expressing, albeit immaturely, is that he expects you to post what he wants, when he wants it. That can't be expected of anyone and if he doesn't like it, he can go somewhere else. Can't please everyone. Personally, I'm a fan of the "Real Metal" subgenres and I'm not looking for mainstream garbage like that poser is, so I'm pleased with what you're doing. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteReally, think about this for a second. Should you really be wasting all of this bandwidth on posting every single release that comes out? Half of them probably aren't even worth it and none of us should be downloading that much anyway. Less volume of albums being posted to the blog means that only the gems, the ones that are really decent or exceptional will be posted. Look at the past few releases: Blut Aus Nord's second album in their trilogy, where they've come back better than ever and totally revitalized their brand of Black Metal. Lantlos, a worthy Post-Black Metal band, which I'm particularly digging this relatively new "microgenre" if you will. Lastly, the new Goatwhore which while I haven't heard, should be a tour de force of Black/Death Metal that may even surpass Carving Out The Eyes of God. My point is, satisfaction is in the eye of the beholder and there are more of us who are grateful for what you're doing versus those who have nothing better to do than whine like children.
