I found it amusing that every other review I read on this album, or any Doom/Sludge album all start by saying it's hard to be a good Doom/Sludge band, or hard to sound unique/interesting. I agree, thats what I gotta say about that. However, Bongripper always seems to give a extra air of substance to their albums.
Hate Ashbury has more noise-drone influence this time around that previous albums like Heroin, that was just a audio assault of questionable tolerance. Pre-cursors to their 2010 album also lay dormant in the sound of this album, with the infusion of layered riffs a top the drone-sammich that goes down oh-so-smoothly.
Suck it fatty.
